What does the .add checkbox mean

What does the .add checkbox mean at the end of the filename box please on the main page?

It will add content (add recording) to the last file.

For example if you lastly recorded to "2021-01-24-10:36:15.mp3" then next recording (with "add" active) will add content to the same file. No new file is created.

However, if you change file type (eg. from MP3 to OGG) then a new timestamp and file is created.
