Recorded file change on metadata change

I am running audio-recorder 1.9.7 on OpenSuse Leap 42.2 with KDE. Audio-recorder is sensing the mpris metadata because it correctly identifies the song playing when recording starts. The problem is the recorder doesn't close the current file when the song metadata changes. It keeps recording to the originally opened file. If I stop the recorder and restart it then it correctly identifies the name of the currently playing song and opens a new file. The Add. option box next to the file name is left unchecked.

Any suggestion on how to change file names on metadata change?
