What subtitle formats are supported?

Asked by Dane Henson

I recently tried to play a video with an associated subtitle file (*.srt) in the same folder, but Audience did not appear to recognize the file. Is this a future feature that I need to wait for, or are there specific formats or naming conventions I need to conform to in order to get Audience to play the subtitle file?

You're right, that's an upcoming feature https://bugs.launchpad.net/audience/+bug/905307

It seems GStreamer (the engine behind Audience) supports all the major subtitle formats (SRT, SSA, etc) except maybe VOBSUB.
