Astrid & Launchpad Translation

Asked by Bernd Schlapsi

Could you please explain the workflow you use with the Astrid strings/arrays files and the Lauchpad translation service?
How do you transform the Android translation files into po or mo files which are needed for launchpad?

Sure.

Launchpad automatically detects .pot files from Astrid's main branch. When translators make translations, Launchpad can export these as .po files.

Thus, we need a tool to turn strings/arrays.xml into .po files, and another tool to turn .pot files back into strings/arrays.xml. This is what the scripts in bin/ do. My workflow is usually:

bin/androidxml2po -e # creates .pot file from xml file in translations/ folder
bzr ci

# download .pot files to translations/ folder
bin/androidxml2po -i
bzr diff # i usually do a visual inspection to make sure everything went well
bzr ci

Can you help with this problem?
