Notification does not work

Asked by John Doe

Artha does not show the option to enable the notification-mode though I have libnotify4 (amd64) (version 0.7.4-1) and the notification-daemon (0.7.1-4) installed. I'm running Kubuntu 11.10, 64bit. Is there any way to fix that?

Artha does run even though I have _not_ installed libdbus-glib-1-dev (but libdbus-glib-1-2) nor libgtk2.0-dev (but libgtk2.0-0 i386 and amd64). Artha has been installed via "Muon Package Manager" from the original repos.

locate libnotify.so:

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnotify.so.4
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnotify.so.4.0.0

all the best,
\me

it appears that the version of libnotify.so provided on GNOME3 and apparently, KDE 4.latest is not compatible with Artha anymore as the notification library it depends on is libnotify.so.3. The developers are fixing this with the port to GNOME3. you can find more info in this bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/artha/+bug/791673

Can you help with this problem?
