Downloading entire repositories

Asked by Ted_Smith

Hi

According to http://en.cypherbios.org/archives/7 it is possible to download an entire repository to a CD\DVD. However, I have just installed the latest version of Feisty and cannot find this feature?

In my case, I have a few offline boxes running Feisty that I cannot connect to the Internet and I was hoping to use AptOnCD to download the latest kernels, updates and packages all to one CD and then install them on my standalone machines. But looking at both 'Create' and 'Restore' I cannot see any way to do this or to arrive at the screenshots provided in the linked article.

Is this possible or am I missing something obvious?

(A great tool BTW - I am very impressed!)

Ted

Thanks for your question.

You can install the package aptoncd on feisty with any package manager.

Here is the homepage of aptoncd with documentation and so on. http://aptoncd.sourceforge.net/

I hope this helps.

No, I think Ted is asking something different entirely...

Ted - I shall have more time tomorrow this time. I'll look into it and see how/where one downloads an entire repository.

Denham.

From the help file:

The Download Repository module is a little unstable in this release. It was
disabled in the APTonCD GUI and only can be called by command line (--download). Use with your own risk.

Hope this helps

Regards,

Denham.

Thanks Denham - you're right, that is what I meant. I will try it with the switch.
