How did it get on my machine?

Asked by Ev Kontsevoy

I don't remember seeing this process before, yet everything worked great.
Therefore I see no need for having an entire Python VM wasting 13MB of RAM doing nothing.

How did it infect my machine?
Which package installs it?
Is it new Ubuntu's default? It must not be.

Aptdaemon is used by software-center to perform package management tasks. As already told in the bug report aptdaemon only runs if required and will shutdown after some minutes of idling.

So the impact on system performance should not render a system unusable.

Can you help with this problem?
