Use Aptic to clone to a different brand PC and Owner?

Asked by John Craig

I wish to clone my preferences and packages to a Dell laptop and use my current ASUS laptop as the source for all of my Aptic backups.

Will this work?
If it will, is the restore restricted to only to the same exact Owner name of the same exact software package and version?

I wish to change my Username on the Dell laptop.

My hope is to use "One Click" and then when the new Dell laptop has a new fresh install of Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon up and running, I want to use Aptic to get my backups from my USB hard-drive and replicate my current ASUS laptop configuration.

If this will work, you have a donation coming big time.

Thanks,
John

FWIW to anyone who is reading this, it works like a champ.

I installed the same OS on the Dell laptop that I am using on my ASUS laptop.

Then I ran Aptik and "restored" the apps and preferences onto the Dell laptop.

What resulted was a "carbon copy" of the ASUS laptop...

Worked slick, highly impressed.
