Translation setup needed

Would it be possible to translate AllTray in Launchpad?

It will be after I have the next release available—opening it up for translation right now would wind up causing a duplicated effort later, because virtually none of the source is staying the same. The current source code is far too large and unmaintainable, and so I am working on a rewrite of the sources.

After I release 0.7.1dev, which will be a testing release of the rewritten code, I'll be very happy to open it up for translations in Launchpad. I'll also need help figuring out how to make that work with the source code. I know virtually nothing about the translation system in Launchpad, though I have read that it works with the standard utilities used for application internationalization, so it shouldn't be too difficult to setup once its ready.

Thank you for the question! I am happy to know that there will be at least someone ready to do translations once its ready.

No problem.

You may want to keep an eye on the announcements page for AllTray; when I've got a rewrite available and pushed to a bzr tree, that is when I'll be making the first release. I'd thought about pushing my current work up there, but the thing is that I keep trying ideas and deleting branches trying to figure out the best way to go about solving the problems that I keep running into, and I don't want to create a lot of traffic on the branches that are here by creating new ones and deleting them quickly. That said, once I have a solid base to build up from, that'll wind up showing up on Launchpad in the code section.

The 0.7.x series, FYI, won't be something for the "general public", per sé. It will be for developers and testers, and 0.8.0 will be the first new release that I intend on coming out with. My _plan_ is for sometime this year to be finished with 0.7.x; I think that things will spring forward pretty quickly once 0.7.1dev is out the door.

Translations are now setup for AllTray—I thought you would want to know that. If you have any trouble, let me know, but in theory you should be able to go to AllTray's project page, click on Translations, and get the template and then upload a .po for your language/dialect combination now. I'd be delighted to know if I did everything correctly.

Great! I tried to do the German one.
Sometimes it's hard because of the missing context.

But I also think some things went wrong:
