ACPI wake up

Asked by Cheba

Is it possible to make alarms to wake machine from deep sleep?

I've seen an example in kernel documentation.

It is possible and on the list of ideas, but it would require root access to enable. I'm not sure that's a good idea for security reasons. See http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/ACPI_Wakeup for more info.

Actually, you can use ACPI wake without root privileges if you use ioctl instead of /proc manipulation.
Take a look at examples in kernel docs on RTC.

Great, I did not know that. I've added this feature to the blueprints and will look into it.

Can you help with this problem?
