How to build alarm-clock-applet without appindicator support when uploading to ppa?

How do I compile alarm-clock-applet without appindicator support (to use it with systray) for ubuntu ?

I can locally build it running "./configure --enable-appindicator=no". But when I upload the source package to launchpad ppa, it
automatically runs with app indicator support.

so how do I disable appindicator support globally so that launchpad builds it with "--enable-appindicator=no" flag?
