Would it be possible to make a new release with vala-0.36 and gee-0.8 code changes for Gnome 3.24 ?

Current alm release is very old and does not build with vala 0.36 as shipped with Gnome 3.24. Ubuntu provides a series of patch that has been partly applied here but there is no release yet. Should I get through the trouble of extracting individual patches or is a new release something doable with current vcs state ?
