acire is not packaged with ubuntu 10.10 neither is it available in default repositories.

Add the following to your software sources
ppa:acire-team/acire-releases
and reload package list. You can install acire from synaptic or apt-get.

Hmm,

Okay, so then should the second part of your answer still work? As I get:

root@nimble:/etc/apt# apt-add-repository ppa:acire-team/acire-releases
Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring --secret-keyring /etc/apt/secring.gpg --trustdb-name /etc/apt/trustdb.gpg --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --primary-keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv FB7861180E4AA440CDC2F2AE07559D60D0879214
gpg: requesting key D0879214 from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpg: key D0879214: "Launchpad Acire Releases" not changed
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: unchanged: 1

The ppa has not been updated for maverick.

But personally, I would suggest you edit the software source just added and change distribution from maverick to lucid. That will ensure that synaptic will use the package for lucid. This should work, unless there are some dependency issues.

Or else you may contact the owner of acire team in launchad ( https://launchpad.net/~acire-team ) .

Thanks for this hint.
Naturally this was my first guess after reading the error message above.

Synaptic insists on maverick. I could set the version if it was read by synaptc anytime before maverick (which is not the case in my case).

So, sorry, but I'm left out.

Very unfortunate.

Can you help with this problem?
