Unattended background updates?

Asked by Shane H

I would like for Ubuntu to automatically update all the packages in the background, without even telling me.

I have never refused an update in the years I have been using Ubuntu.

Currently I think this only works with security updates.

That is possible with "2clickupdate core". Its a terminal version of 2click update and it has no gui. this way you can assign 2click update core, in a "cron job", to schedule it to run ones a day or a week automatically in the background.

It would be cool if you could get the main GUI program to do this.

Actually there is no difference between the GUI version and the no-Gui version. Its the same thing. But it is better to use Core edition for scheduled system updates because there is no gui and it will run automatically in the background (if you schedule it) .

Unattended upgrades are now part of Ubuntu, you just need to enable them
Whatch this http://youtu.be/u8V4FjrIXsU, I am speaking in Greek but follow the screen and it is easy to enable them
