data recovery from a live-usb

Asked by Ignacio

three months ago I downloaded the latest version of the uNetBootIn and the latest version of ubuntu. I also bought a 16gb pendrive and mounted a live-usb ubuntu with around 8gb of storage which I selected from the option that is there for that purpose and only avaliable for ubuntu. It worked for three months. Today something went wrong and i cant start from the pendrive. It is not a big deal but...i need some files that were inside. The problem is I cant access the system files because when I stick the pendrive in a running operative system it reads it and shows only the installation files, and i cant find my files within those.

Any help is welcome. Thank you.

I'm assuming you mean how to access files inside the persistence file? Take a look at http://askubuntu.com/questions/311508/how-to-access-my-saved-files-on-a-persistent-liveusb (note you'll need to boot ubuntu to be able to access those files - boot from another USB drive / liveCD if you don't have a real install handy)
