Additionally you have to be aware that Ubuntu is copying packages from Debian (to avoid double packaging work) and also Debian has only versions up to 2.2.6.1, see https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/wings3d
First step for bringing the new version into Ubuntu is upgrading the package on Debian.
