Lost icons on toolbar

Asked by Jim Hutchinson

I have several computers running Ubuntu and for some reason on two of them the toolbars in open office writer are text only. I have gone into tools - customize and selected "icons only" but it doesn't change anything. They seem stuck. On my other computers it's just fine. Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks.

I seem to remember somebody else with this problem. If I remember it correctly, the problem was the icon them used (there was no matching set in OO.o).

Thanks Cesare. That was indeed the issue. What I don't get though is I was using the Tango icons. I thought those were standard icons. On my desktop I'm using some OSX icons and those work just fine but not Tango. Seems odd.

You can install this then: openoffice.org-style-tango.

The problem is that OO.o uses its own set of icons, not those from the sytem sets; so if there is no mathcing set, no icons are displayed (and why tango its not considered a default set by OO.o, I don't know, guess they need to exclude something to make some space, lets not forget that they are on the LiveCD).

Okay, I'm playing with this on my desktop and so far I've been unable to get the OOo icons to change at all. I also can't get them to go away like what happened on the other computers. What manages icons for OOo?

Hi people.

I just met the same problem : i want my blendedcrystal icon theme but still have icons in OOo.
Well, the solution is to set your favorite icon theme as usual, then in OOo : tools->options->view --> sub-menu "icons size and style" select your icon theme for OOo.
This worked for me on ubuntu feisty with human theme for OOo (since it is packed in).

Hope this helps.

Oh, and you have to restart OOo before changes take effect.
