Update mysql workbench to 8.0.16?

Asked by Richard Wardin

Noticed after checking updates (Help > Check for Updates) that the version of Mysql Workbench on Ubuntu Software is a bit out of date (6.3 as opposed to the latest: 8.0.16).

Is there any plan to update this?

You have to be aware that Ubuntu is taking over software from Debian to avoid double packaging work.
As far as I can see, also Debian has only version 6.3.10 and 6.3.8

But there seems to be a much more severe problem:
FTBFS, removed from Debian testing, blocks libzip transition; Debian bug https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=914761

This was the reason that mysql-workbench does not even exist on Ubuntu 19.04

Can you help with this problem?
