Getting Xenial libsodium updated

Asked by Pin Developer

I note the Xenial libsodium is a little older than the version available on new Ubuntu releases. Will this get updated or can I assist in updating it?

I note that a newer debian version is available

Looking at the branches for this library the update seems close at hand.

https://code.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libsodium

What does one have to do to move it along? Submit a merge request from once of the branches containing the desired version to one of the Xenial branches?

If you see the need that libsodium in Ubuntu xenial gets updated to a newer version, then please create a bug report to request a SRU or backport (see the Details in the FAQ in my previous comment).
