jsonnet for 18.04 LTS bionic beaver

Asked by Liem Phan

Hi, I was trying to install jsonnet on Ubuntu 18.04 (apt install jsonnet) and found out that the package wasn't published for this version of Ubuntu. Was there any particular reason for not publishing jsonnet for Bionic Beaver? Would it be possible to add jsonnet for 18.04?

Examining the current jsonnet package in the development version (0.17.0+ds-2build1 for jammy) shows that it needs glibc version >= 2.29 which is not available in the standard Ubuntu repositories for bionic. This prevents a simple backport.

In my opinion you should consider upgrading to Ubuntu focal or later and you will get jsonnet easily.
Or you try building it from source yourself.
