customised reports

Asked by Mike Stroud

I am evaluating Schooltool for a small pre-primary school in South Africa. I am doing this pro bono as they rely on donations for their funding. They require some customised reports, but it seems that schooltool doesn't use a relational database such as Postgress or Mysql. How easy is it to generate customised reports in Libreoffice base or calc? Or is a 3rd party report writer required?
Thanks!

Hi Mike,

In the current version there are limited options for end-users to create custom reports. We have written a form which generates customized reports that can be imported into a spreadsheet, and it will be included in the SchoolTool 3.0 release. Unfortunately, we don't have a firm timeline for that release at this point, but hope to make an announcement on that point soon.

Thanks Tom! I'll recommend that they go with Ubuntu and Schooltool and suggest that they persevere until version 3. I hope it's not too long a wait!
